Eleven Eurostar services are to be cancelled today because of "power supply problems" - meaning more headaches for stranded passengers.

Services between London, Paris and Brussels have been hit by continuing delays after a lorry fire led to the closure of the Channel Tunnel on Saturday.

Now Eurostar has said six trains that were due to leave from London between 2pm and just after 8pm, along with five leaving from Paris and Brussels, will be cancelled.

The company said that one of the two tunnels used by its trains will remain closed all day.

"In addition, Eurotunnel experienced new power supply problems this morning which meant that both tunnels were again closed for two hours," it said in a statement.

"This closure was a separate incident, unrelated to the problems experienced yesterday."

The services departing from London at 2.04pm, 3.31pm, 5.04pm, 6.04pm, 6.31pm and 8.04pm have been cancelled.

In Paris, the services leaving the French capital at 4.43pm and 6.43pm will not be running, while in Brussels, the 3.56pm, 5.56pm and 6.56pm trains have been cancelled.

Eurostar and the Eurotunnel Le Shuttle car service were stopped on Saturday after the fire on the French side of the railway's south tunnel.

The incident led to long queues at St Pancras station in London as services were cancelled for most of the day.

Queues formed again at the station this morning, where Eurostar services resumed after 8am.

There were similar scenes in Paris and Brussels.

Eurostar had earlier said it would run a full service today, but only "for passengers who have an existing reservation for this date".

People were warned that trains could be delayed by between 30 minutes and an hour.

Eurostar advised people whose trains were cancelled on Saturday not to arrive at stations unless they had already been re-booked.

People booked on the services cancelled on Sunday have been asked to "postpone their travel and rebook for an alternative date".

Eurotunnel services resumed at 2.45am UK time.

Eurotunnel spokesman John O'Keefe said a "smouldering load" was found in the trailer of the lorry.

The alarm was triggered after CO2 detectors were activated in one tunnel, Eurotunnel said. No one was injured.

In March, hundreds of Eurostar passengers were delayed after a lightning strike triggered a fire in a building close to the entrance to the tunnel in Kent.

Although there was no damage to the track, four trains in and out of England were affected.

Three eventually reached their destination but the fourth, which had been heading to Paris, was forced to turn back to London.

The head of the EU's police agency Europol says there are no guarantees that another Paris-style terror attack can be prevented despite increased security measures.

Rob Wainwright told Sky News that it has become "extremely difficult" to deal with the threat posed by Islamist extremists.

It comes as David Cameron vowed to tackle what he called the "poisonous narrative of Islamist extremism that is turning too many young minds".

He was speaking following two days of talks with US President Barack Obama in Washington where they said a new group would be set up to exchange information and expertise to tackle the terror threat.

There are fears about the spread of terrorism after last week's Paris attacks that left 17 people dead and the arrest of more than two dozen people in anti-terror raids in Belgium, Germany and France.

Mr Wainwright admitted that stopping every potential attack was "very difficult" but vowed to "prevail" and said there was a determined action by police to disrupt cells.

He said: "Even in countries like France that have some of the most well-equipped counter-terrorist capabilities in the world, still it is possible for terrorist attacks to take place.

"This means that stopping everything is very difficult. Containing the threat fully is very difficult but I'm sure we will prevail in the same way as societies have prevailed against other forms of terrorism in the past."

The Prime Minister wants to be able to better track suspected terrorists without undermining civil liberties and admitted there was an inability to interrupt their communications.

He pushed for tougher requirements for internet firms to alert authorities to suspicious online exchanges, ban encrypted communications and store data.

A report last year into the murder of Fusilier Lee Rigby concluded that Facebook failed to pass on information that could have prevented his death.

Mr Wainwright said the terror threat was "very serious" and a "large-scale problem" across many European countries and there could be thousands of suspects radicalised online and through their experiences in Syria and Iraq.

The PM said dealing with extremism meant combating the threat in those conflict zones but also "dealing with terrorism in our own midst".

He said he had some "important discussions [with Obama] about how we combat the poisonous narrative of Islamist extremism that is turning too many young minds towards this.

"And crucially how to make sure that we are still able legally to intercept the communications of terrorists and stop them before they create mayhem and murder.

"This is controversial. We have to get it right. There's always been an inability in extremism to interrupt the communications of terrorists and to stop them doing what they plan.

"I think it's important we maintain those capabilities in the future."

The Prime Minister's policy proposals have caused concern on both sides of the Atlantic about the prospect of security efforts encroaching on privacy.

The two leaders also agreed to stage cyber "war games" and establish a joint "cyber cell" to boost both countries' resistance to hack attacks.

Rabbi Predicts Jewish Exodus From France

The rabbi of Paris's biggest synagogue has said thousands of Jews will flee France in the wake of last week's terror attacks.

Moshe Sebbag, from the vast and ornate Grand Synagogue in the French capital, says there is likely to be a mass flight to safety if the terror threat does not diminish.

He said: "Yes I think there will be a big exodus, it's a fact, you can't ignore it.

"Already this year its estimated 7,000 will leave for Israel, but after what's happened I know that everybody, or a lot of people are looking for a way out."

Sabine is one of them. She fears the Jews in France face a threat not seen since the days of the Nazis and the Second World War.

She has three sons, the youngest of which is seven years old.

She dreamt he was killed by a terrorist who snatched him at gunpoint and has told all of her boys not to have anything that marks them out as Jewish on show in public.

She said: "I went with my son to school (non denominational) and I said to him, if someone arrives to kill people don't say that you are Jewish, never."

Sabine is already researching the possibility of buying a home in Israel, in case she determines it's too dangerous to stay in France.

She has told her older sons not to consider any higher education courses in Europe, instead advising them to study in Canada, Australia or Israel.

Sabine is not a particularly observant Jew and does not live in a Jewish enclave in Paris, but she is very apprehensive about what the future holds.

She added: "As a Jew living in Paris I feel very, very frightened. I think they wanted that and they succeeded in that."

A week after four Jewish men were killed at a kosher supermarket, Jews were back in the shops stocking up on provisions for the Sabbath, once again, though this time with soldiers on the street.

How many more times will those same people buy their goods from a French delicatessen before they deem it too dangerous to live in France at all?

Meanwhile, Prime Minister David Cameron and President Barack Obama have joined forces to fight "the poisonous narrative" of Islamist extremists.

Speaking on his way back from a meeting in Washington with Mr Obama about the terror threat following the Paris attacks, Mr Cameron said: "You can have, tragically, people who have had all the advantages of integration, who have had all the economic opportunities our countries can offer, who still get seduced by this poisonous, radical death cult of a narrative."

A teenager has been arrested in Merseyside following cyberattacks on Sony PlayStation and Xbox systems last year.

The teenager was held today in Southport, Merseyside, after a joint British and FBI-led operation.

He was arrested on suspicion of unauthorised access to computer material.

He was also detained for alleged threats to kill, the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) said.

It was unclear whether the arrest related to the Christmas Day attack on Xbox and Sony which left millions of users offline.

Deputy Chief Constable Peter Goodman, the national policing lead for cyber security at the Association of Chief Police Officers (Acpo), said it was a "significant" arrest.

He said: "This arrest demonstrates that we will pursue those who commit crime with the false perception they are protected within their own homes or hiding behind anonymous online personas.

"As we continue to build capability and develop skills across wider policing, we still need industry, communities and individuals to protect themselves by implementing basic security measures whilst taking full advantage and enjoyment of the opportunities the world wide web provides."

Investigators, supported by the National Cyber Crime Unit (NCCU), said the operation also focused on alleged "swatting" offences.

Swatting involves individuals providing false information online to law enforcement agencies in the US.

The false information suggests a threat exists so police respond with tactical units.

Electronic and digital devices were seized by officers who arrested the teenager in Boundary Street, Southport.

Craig Jones, head of the Cyber Crime Unit at SEROCU, said: "We are still at the early stages of the investigation and there is still much work to be done.

"We will continue to work closely with the FBI to identify those who commit offences and hold them to account.

"Offences referred to as 'swatting' involve law enforcement forces in the United States receiving hoax calls via Skype for a major incident in which Swat teams were dispatched.

"We are pursuing cyber criminals using the latest technology and working with businesses and academia to further develop specialist investigative capabilities to protect and reduce the risk to the public.

"Cyber crime is an issue which has no boundaries and affects people on a local, regional and global level."

Beagle 2 Found 'Partially Deployed' On Mars

A British spacecraft which disappeared as it approached Mars in search of alien life has been spotted on the planet's surface.

The Beagle 2 was presumed to have been destroyed because it had not been seen or heard from since December 2003.

But UK Space Agency chief executive David Parker has confirmed that photos taken by a Nasa orbiter spacecraft show it successfully landed 12 years ago.

He said: "The history of space exploration is marked by both success and failure. This finding makes the case that Beagle 2 was more of a success than we previously knew and undoubtedly an important step in Europe's continuing exploration of Mars.

"What we can say with some confidence today is that Beagle 2 is no longer lost and furthermore it seems we are not looking at a crash site.

"We have good evidence of Beagle 2 resting on the surface of Mars.

"These images are consistent with the Beagle 2 having successfully landed on Mars but then only partially deploying itself."

Professor Mark Sims of the University of Leicester, who was an integral part of the Beagle 2 project, said: "I am delighted that Beagle 2 has finally been found on Mars.

"Every Christmas Day since 2003 I have wondered what happened to Beagle 2. My Christmas day in 2003, alongside many others who worked on Beagle 2, was ruined by the disappointment of not receiving data from the surface of Mars.

"To be frank, I had all but given up hope of ever knowing what happened to Beagle 2. The images show that we came so close to achieving the goal of science on Mars."
